How on earth do you unlock this achievement?

At least one province in Ethiopia has Jewish religion. Sounds like you have to conquer it and provoke religious rebels.

That's the way, right. And you'll have to hurry--take too long, and it's going to get converted to Coptic or Sunni. I won't be surprised if some restarts are necessary to get this one.

Once you own a Jewish province, assuming you're a Pagan nation (like Mutapa is), the decision becomes available to 'Convert to Judaism' as long as your government is not 'Tribal'- this of course can be done as a Tier 5 Tribal Reformation government reform.

Conquer your way into Ethiopia and hope they haven't taken the decision which instantly eliminates both of their Jewish/Semien provinces/cores after the revolt there is put down. If they have, head up into Greece and see if the Ottomans have allowed the post-Reconquista Jews from Granada to settle and thrive in Selanik (which itself depends on the success of and random events being experienced by Castile/Spain).

These three provinces are the ONLY ones that can start with or gain Judaism, so several restarts will be in order. Fortunately, Ethiopia seems disinclined to crush the Jewish revolts as hard these days, perhaps because that costs them a lot of stability.

The AI never chooses that option in the event(this was different in some 1.32 versions). Instead they always choose the option which gives the provinces -100% missionary strength (and -100% religious unity contribution) for 30 25 years. But they can convert the provinces manually after the 30 25 years are over and I think a coptic AI is relatively likely to do it.

edit: it's actually 25 years. I miscalculated when I converted 9125 days into years

you have about 25 years to conquer the provinces . so focus mil , rival Kilwa get the acquire ports mission (so you can attack on the 11 of dec) hire both merc company's and crush kilwa. Take everything. make cores to get feudalism . crush pate and the other two Sunni you can see (dont take the map event yet so you get no ae with the others in the region). after that snake your way up to the Jewish provinces.

since you have so many gold mines high lvl advisers should have given you an advantage . since inflation doesn't matter for the achievement ;). you should either get religious or humanist as one of your ideas because switching by decisions will be rebel hell & your economy will crash. also save some mil to boost your legitimacy or devotion/equivalent asap.

i recomment to take the map event asap to check if you have to restart the game (ethiopia converted or not and crash the game afterwards to save on ae )
