You can do it, but there's not a lot of real benefit to it. With your starting position, you'll be hard pressed to get there before the likes of Norway or Spain, especially if you wait until the Reformation starts, and you won't even have access to any of the Gulf of St. Lawrence colonial trade value unless you conquer Norway, Scotland, and Ireland to take over the North Sea trade node. You'll likely end up doing more to make Great Britain wealthier than yourself.

Sure you can do it, but going colonial>expansion will most likely hurt you more than going adm>diplo, since as above posted mentioned you won't benefit economically unless you have a dominance in the north sea or lübeck. Even then the colonies won't give you much, you'd benefit from having a foothold in the English Channel which is why Holland is powerful.

If you want to go colonial, I'd recommend going adm>diplo and conquer around north germany and scandinavia and later go for the colonies by annexing them through wars.

Damm i forgot the Trade Nodes.....

Never forget the trade nodes. Let trade guide your expansion. If you really want to go colonial starting as Brandenburg, make conquest of the British Isles, the Low Countries, and most of Scandinavia a priority. Then you can route trade from the most of the Americas either directly to the Channel or send it through the North Sea.

you can go full colonial with any country by just getting the burgundian inheritance and starting from there. dont even have to take any colonial ideas, just conquer whatever spain and portugal colonize and then direct the money to enlish channel

Yup. That's always a good move because it gives you a chunk of the Channel and the ability to start fabricating claims on the rest (northern France and England itself).
