Does anyone like playing Venice?
With WoC and 1.37 update, I thought I would give Venice a try. I have played them before many times, but always find them tedious. Enemies on 3 fronts, you have to deal with the Ottomans early, plus France later, etc. So I tried them again with the WOC DLC. still tedious. I shouldn't complain, I have a PU with Austria and Lithuania. Allied with what is left of Portugal and Castile. Also allied with Great Britain and Poland. Poland is the HRE Emperor (go figure). Venice is # 1 rank and not even 1600. Just need the province of Rome to form Italy. Hasn't been hard, just tedious. The most annoying thing that happened is Poland gained a minor in central Asia (Ajam) as a vassal as a result of the War of Religion. So they are constantly pressing claims in central Asia, Annoying to say the least. Has to be one of the weirdest runs for me..

I love Venice. Super fast Italy-former, great Emperor of the HRE, easily crushes the Ottomans and Mamluks and then expands east for huge wealth, etc etc etc. Not a hard campaign by any means, but a fun one.

I love playing Venice, in fact with the new dlc I'll probably go for that right now. Note to say, once you crush the Ottomans, split their country in half and cut them off the Mamluks, the challenge is over and the feast begins. By 1500 you are the richest country in the world without trying and by 1550 Anatolia, Middle East and Egypt are in your possesion following the true faith. I also like to ally Austria early if possible, make them eat as many German minors as possible and after I disband HRE expanding that way is reasonably easy. The only challenge will be managing my governing capacity as always :steamhappy:
