Still 50$ for this game plus the other 3-500$ for MODS called "DLC's"
I'm not paying for all of that. :)

I love this game though. :)

If you check my steam games list you will see I Have no problem supporting devs and buying games

I will not buy games from greedy companies that constantly mod their own game and charge you money..... until it becomes a half grand investment to play.

So many other games I can buy for that price.

Thank god for other alternatives!

I even stopped buying the hearts of iron 4 dlc's.

So tired of a company that releases a cut down version of their game and then charges us for the features they held back to charge money for..... or like I said already.....

The way I look at DLC's now is this. First off there are expansions to games. Expansions packs that add a huge amount or hours of of content to the game. Think of The Witcher 3 Expansions or Bethesda games expansions like for SKyrim or the Shattered Space expansion "DLC" coming out for Starfield.

Now for "DLC's" These are literally just mods. Mods created by the developer and a monetary value applied to it in order to "download" and activate the mods.

Literally every "DLC" for this game can be looked at as a "MOD" as opposed to a "Expansion pack"

So EU4 is a 50$ CAD base game with another 400$ worth of MOD dlc's.

Yes I would concede that Paradox mods have a greater ability to impact and imrpove the game since they can change the original source code and modders are limited into what they can change/improve on.... but none the less.

I am tired of Companies like Paradox modding their own games, calling it DLC and charging money for it.

I just bought Imperator Rome and all it's DLC's for 25$ though.

Looks like the reviews have been good since the terrible release.
Price for the amount of content is more than fair if you buy on sale. For example, I know I will spend about 200 hours on this new DLC all while having fun.

EU4 has given me more entertainment value per dollar than anything else. No film, no PC or console game, no board game, no book, no cable or streaming service, nothing has come close.

well there you have it, at least you have another game to play. So come any time if you change your mind, at least most of us are still here or hopefully in EUV!
How are these not "expansions" and "should be in the game"

I can't think of any other game where after 10 years still developing new content that adds to the game play experience. $20 USD is not cheap, but I will buy to support the continuing development.

With the exception of MMOs, neither can I.

OP: next time the base game is on sale get the base game for cheap. Then buy 1 month's subscription to turn on every single dlc for that month. Then play. If you didn't like the game after that, just unsubscribe again and the experiment will have been cheap.

And no, not all DLCs are "mods" the main DLCs all add game mechanics.

interesting username, op

that aside, I slowly bought all the dlc over years....actually I still don't own most cosmetic ones lmao
The game is really fun, but that base game price needs to decrease in value. It's standard practice that as time goes on, games become cheaper and settle at a reasonable rate. Nobody is going to buy a PS3 game at full price today.

The game is still £34.99. They can make DLCs and Expansions all they want, but the base game is too expensive.

What's more interesting is your profile. That said, OP's username is only half-true, unfortunately

Just ask Hamas to buy the DLC's for you

The subscription to own all dlcs kind of answers your problems. If you aren't someone that plays this game for 1000s of hours this doesnt really impact you, pay the sub while you play the game, and when you quit you dont have to feel stupid for paying 100s of dollars on a video game.

The buy Option is for hardcore fans, with thousand of thousands of hours in the game.

For random new player, paradox offer the subscribe model, were you pay 5euro per month, get access to all DLC, and simply enjoy 1-2 month of full content, before you cancel your "♥♥♥" and switch to a other game.
Sorry but I do not wish ti pay another "subscription tax" to paradox.

One day we will be paying sub taxes for everything if this keeps up

It's not a good alternative imo

A good alternative is to start making old mods (dl'cs) cost 1-2$ while charging that 15$ on the latest mod/dlc for the "hardcore players'

Btw I am a "hardcore player" who has 1000+ hours in this game..... :) I even got it for free on epic store. I still won't pay for all these dlc's

Look at my steam library. Clearly I have no problem buying games.... Hec I have like 50 games I bought and haven't even touched once including games like witcher 3 and dying light 2.

It's principle.

Gonna go play some imperator rome now. Well worth the 25$
