WHY NOT MAKE EU5?!
The fact that they made trade a focus in their new mechanics is a bad sign for horrible performance like in POS VIC 3 as well.
If anyone has ever played into late game EU4 will know that even your NASA grade computer will burst into flames from running the pathing, ViC has no units (♥♥♥♥ you for that PDX) and still slows to a crawl even in mid game.
The only positive thing i saw was the dynasty tree, if it truly lets you choose which of your children gets to marry and whom. this would make royal marriages more tactical and succession wars more predictable and important.
Yeah that is the limit for me. Logic succession wars and roleplaying to a degree is all I want to see.
Edit:
I take it back. builings and maintenance will kill this game before even the first patch will be out. There is 0 chance that paradox can manage that at any point of development. Requrements for buildings is a neat idea that will make only sense in the civilized portion of the map, how are africa, the steppe and native American ever going to get glass fe.
If you carpet siege can you starve the enemy army and population to 0?
If you cut off trade via sea blockade and carpet siege how would they get food?
Please Paradox your team as it is now is not capable enough for this task, get the old team back together and think this through.
Please dont do this to Europa Universalis as well!!!!!
Your panic isn't appropriate. Johan is heading up the EU5 project just as he did EU1, EU2, EU3, EU4, the first HOI games, the first Victoria games, the first CK, and so on. He is "the old team." No one involved with Victoria 3 works at the Tinto studio. It's not a "reskin."
EU5 is Victoria 3 reskinned. Come back to me when it releases and we talk.
LOL LOL LOL. You want the old team, you got the old team--but you also hate the old team. You do not make sense.
But as soon as he became lead again it went downhill fast.
He made the game more and more streamlined and boring with each update and DLC.
Downright broke mechanics you paid money for to get and hid them behind new DLCs.
Once Rule Britania rolled in it was already clear that only the DLC nations would be worth playing from that point on. EU4 became a live service game with this man at the helm.
Every game that man touched was unfinished at launch and almost all the ideas were stolen from Mods and poorly executed.
I mean almost all the "new" mechanics in EU5 are in MEIOU&Taxes.
but
we are talking about the guys that want to stick 3d ruler models, real time trade goods calculation and population mechanics.
And i dont have to tell you how good it worked in Victoria 3, a boring mess to this day that is still borderline unplayable without mods. That game is like creative valium, you do the same tasks in the same interfaces 90% of the time without even looking at the map, in a map game.
Now imagine 400k troops of Ming marching seperatly from their home province to the one province minor client state every other month! And lets not forget the army numbers will also be real time calculations of Population in Province, food consumption and materials for moral.
I am really looking forward to the day when they manage to patch it to the point where these mechanics dont blackscreen the second you start the game.
Once again, Johan had absolutely nothing to do with Vicky 3. The Tinto studio produces EU content only. There is zero overlap between their teams.
