exit to menu blue screens computer

when i press the exit to menu button i blue screens my computer any help?

Does the epic button at the bottom left of the eu4 main menu have a green border or a red border? A green border means that eu4 is connected to your epic account and a red border means that it isn't. For some reason(I don't know why), eu4 only tries to log in to epic(turning the red border green) if you go back to the main menu. And I suspect that the crash happens if that fails in some way. The mechanism which eu4 uses to log you in is that it starts/opens your default webbrowser with a special version of the epic login page. And if you log in successfully on that page, epic will ask you if you want to give eu4 permission to change your epic status(so that it can display that you are playing eu4). After you do that you will stay logged in and eu4 will not try to open your webbrowser again

hmm ok ill try to change my default browser since i havent changed those settings at all just incase that edge is an issue

i just loaded up the game the epic logo has a green border

i tried doing it again managed to do it 4 or 5 times with the bsod error of system thread exception
edit: did another test same thing exit to menu two times bsod with error of paged in non paged fault error code

I have the same issue and I contacted Paradox to solve it, after a long list of tryouts, Problem didnt appear when i used another user in Windows, so they told me that it was something bad with a driver, but after a clean install it goes the same, I only have installed my working tools and my games, but using a new user in Windows stills solves the problem, maybe it helps, but yeah, EU IV is a game that is not very stable and I would say it creates conflic with Windows.

Do you maybe have the epic client installed? It activates its overlay in eu4 even if you use the steam version of eu4. And the epic overlay seems to cause the problem

I will check that out, when i play with friends i use the Nakama version, since they have it in EPIC from the time they gave it for free.

Since i dont see a way of disabling the overlay, i guess it works if i have Epic closed when im launching the game?

I think you have to uninstall the epic client. There are some instructions on how to remove the overlay without uninstalling epic which you can find on the internet, but I don't know if they work. IIRC the revolve around deleting the files which are responsible for showing the overlay
