It's not. It's not a scripted event. There's nothing to fix. Sometimes they go one way, sometimes they go another.

I've seen both outcomes. It's not all one thing or all another. Aragon staying a monarchy has been somewhat more common in my dozen-ish campaigns so far--about 60-40, I'd say. Personally, I'd like to see an 80-20 ratio, but my sample size isn't large enough to have confidence in what the actual numbers are yet.

Grab a coin. Flip it twice. If it comes up tails two times in a row, is the coin broken? Do you need to tell the devs to fix it? Or have you flipped it too few times to generate statistically significant results?

i just want a more historical game, the game is ♥♥♥♥ now with Castille

Imo if they are a under PU, it shouldn't "just" happen by event - Castille should have the option to fight for their crown (maybe with some consequences. Which monarch during that time just said "oh too bad" when half his country turns into a republic? As a result of a violent rebellion or a catastrophic lost war, sure. But just like this, it seems strange...

+1
Agreed that they shouldn't get the option to flip at all if they're already under a PU. Ahistoricity is one thing, completely invalidating a major early-game historical event that's crucial to a Great Power's success is taking it too far. It's like if Byzantium were able to simply push one button to retake all their cores and the west coast of Anatolia without even fighting the Ottomans.

Totally agree.

it was so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring to always have them pu under castille, its something new. why do you have to cry about everything in this game

I agree, this happens far too consistently. It should be far less likely to happen and destroys Castile runs.

Castille should not have integrated leon and galicia, they should be vassals at the start date, or PU. Aragon going republic is hilarious, and I don't mind it until they nerf castille and buff portugal

I think it'd be less irritating playing Castile-Spain, which is normally how it happened, if the "The Infantes of Aragon" mission bottom half gave claims on Aragon if they're not a monarchy instead of just giving nothing

you can always alt+f4 when choice is made.

Just an observation to support this thread, out of the 10 or so games I played with 1.35 if Aragon is still around post 1500, they are a republic.
