If they win the war, englads was the aggressor.
If they lost, France was the aggressor.
French are master of this diplomatic art of blaming.
France will be the defender and England the attacker. So allies fro france, none for England.
Not that it matters much - you can totally spank England and Portugal in 1444 already.
But if I look at the wiki for that event I have :
The country:
is Flag of England England.
is not a subject.
is not allied with Flag of France France.
is not at war with Flag of France France.
does not have a truce with Flag of France France.
Maine (177):
is owned by Flag of England England or one of its subjects.
Flag of France France:
exists.
is not a subject.
It is before 1450.
My understanding is that the event should trigger if I am England no?
Thanks for your insight
Well, really, anyone who wins a war ends up blaming the losing side for being the aggressor, and then writes history that way.
But, it's like grotaclas explained two posts up; France only decides the response if England decides to pursue the claim on Maine.
