France having Castille as junior partner?
Hi all,
In most of my games as of late, France has ended up with Castille as a junior partner, then integrating them in late-game.

Is there any event etc that just gives them the union? I never see them invading castille to force a union upon them....

No event that I know of - though there is a very similar one for Austria that gives them a Hapsburg heir on the Castilian/Spanish throne - but it's likely they simply ended up with a new dynasty due to royal marriages, heir dying during a regency etc.

That it has happened repeatedly suggests you are doing similar things to disrupt the usual European power structures.
Not an event nor a mission, but you can get claims on the whole Iberia as France following the mission tree.
Maybe it was just "luck" for France to put a Valois on the Castile throne

In a current save of mine. I'm England and was getting my butt kicked by the French in the maine event. And somehow Spain fell into a personal union under me, as I allied and royal married them. Think it's just Rng

In my run as France (still at it, yes), Castile ended with a Valois on the htrone and I didn't notice it until I got the "warning" of them becoming my junior partner like a century and a half later (early game we were allies, they broke some time later, but I guess by then a Valois was a ruler, I didn't check it).
Instead, I had to insist , quite a lot, to get a Valois on Portugal's throne, and Bohemia's one too.

France actually has an event and not just for Castille, for all countries France is allied with.
Whenever your ally doesn't have an heir, there's a chance this event will trigger.
Your ally will basically get an heir from your dynasty and will be as old as the current ruler and sometimes even older. So when your ally's ruler dies, they'll end up with an old heirless ruler of your dynasty. So they may easily fall into a union...
The event is called, "Take that von Habsburgs!" or something like that.

Ah yes, I found it. Event 9470, "Marriage Policies Pay Off".

If a Christian monarchy has at least four royal marriages, and another Christian monarchy with which it has a royal marriage is without an heir and is of a different dynasty, there is a chance for this event to fire and create an heir of their dynasty for the heirless nation.

MTTH of 1500 months, so I'm surprised it is happening for you so frequently if that's what's happening. Either way, fun times in Europe.
