Question about Act of Union Debate/Forming Angevin Kingdom
I'm trying to take the decision that will allow me to take an issue/debate in Parliament as England. I have France in PU, they have annexed all their little derps and are now quite large (having 51 provinces).

I can't take the decision because of two things that I don't know what to do about:

- I either need to own a bunch of cores that are France's ~or~ Have France as a subject/Governed by the Ruler of England ~AND~ France has less than 40 cities

- I also need 25 owned provinces in the France region (currently 15)

So my question is what do I do here? I can't seem to seize land from France and even if I could, it would be a long slog to do it while keeping them loyal.

Is my only option to integrate them the old fashioned way? It'll take about 60 years, apparently.

I am going the Angevin Kingdom route at the moment, I specifically avoided forming a PU with France. I have taken about half their provinces and now France fields an army half mine. BTW something I have never seen in 10K hours of playing, Burgundy entered a PU under Scotland and released all the low land countries as part of the BI. What a twist. What is left of Scotland now is a couple of Burgundian provinces. I am nibbling at those carefully, as I don't want the capital to end up in the HRE. Next war I will try to take the 4 or 5 remaining.

Just spit balling, you could keep taking French provinces until they rebel. Then reconquer them taking more provinces. Sometime brute force is the way to go.

As France is under PU, he can't take their provinces. He's going to have to abandon the PU, lose a war and cede some of their territory, or integrate them. And then release a province of them and forcibly vassalise them again, because France must actually exist in order for those Acts of Union to work.

Yeah, can't seize land from PU's, so I started integrating them. It seems kinda silly and arbitrary that there is this restriction for the Angevin Kingdom/English-French union debate. France is at 100 Trust and 200 Opinion, so there really should be no issue.

Good to know this for next time I try to form Angevin Kingdom, though. Can't beat that map color.

Only about 40 years more for the integration. The bright side is I get to keep bullying Europe with the 87k French soldiers in addition to Ireland, Scotland, and random vassals in Italy. Also getting ready to PU Spain by force, so that'll be nice.

Worth pointing out that there are three regions the Angevins can claim the crown of through special parliamentary Acts. Ireland (the only one available for England and Great Britain), Spain and Italy. If you formally accept those crowns, you release a unified Spain and Italy under PUs in exchange for a permanent bonus and the chance to integrate them later.

Each of the Crowns (Ireland, Italy, and Spain) provides +1 Diplomatic Relations, -10% Unjustified Demands, and +0.5 Yearly Prestige. You can then integrate the released unified nation as normal later on.

I've also just run a few tests. If you wait long enough to complete the very first central mission of the Hundred Years War, and prepare sufficiently with everything else, you can pretty much get all the rewards for both British and Angevin branching missions. As the British missions are already unlocked and available, they can be completed before you actually choose whether or not to go down the Angevin path...

I'm torn on whether I would prefer this obvious issue to be fixed or not. No other branching missions are like this.

EDIT: I'm kinda leaning towards not fixing it. The amount of work you'd have to put into this is colossal, time-consuming, and not especially broken in what you get out of it. The Angevin mission rewards, with the exception of +5% Admin Efficiency, are rather subpar or middling for the most part.

One of the big lessons I'm learning from all this is to not be lazy and actually read through the mission tree before starting down it.

Thank you for the heads up and extra information.
