Venice Mission, Contest Genoese Trade Broken?

I'm currently occupying every province in the Ligurian Sea except the province in Sardinia, whilst occupying Genoa's capitol. Yet the mission isn't complete, says I don't have 50% trade power. Frustrating because all the missions which give claims are locked behind it. Am I doing something wrong or is the mission just broken?

When you say occupy, do you mean that you actually OWN said provinces or that you are in a war with their owner and have captured them? Because what you can do is completely annex Genoa so that the country doesn't exist anymore, and therefore control a goodly portion of its trade power in that node.

And the other thing to consider is that people like Tunis and Aragon and Naples will also likely have trade power in that node to compete with.

EDIT: On game start the following nations have trade power in that node: Genoa, Milan, Naples, Papal States (and vassals), Florence, Siena, Lucca, Milan, Savoy (and vassals), Aragon.

You're occupying Genoa's provinces, but what's your actual trade power share in that node? If Genoa wasn't the biggest trade share then merely occupying their provinces may not be enough.
