But you seem to assume , like I used to assume , that the Tuetonic Order always became Prussia.
In my current game I vassalized the Tuetonic Order.
Later , I went to war with Poland and in the peace deal made Poland release Ducal Prussia.
Now I have BOTH Prussia and the Tuetonic Knights. Two different flags , two different state entities in two different colors.
Maybe the Tuetonic Knights will disband and be absorbed by Prussia tomorrow ? But that has now been several years ago , and they still exist as two separate vassals.
Maybe it's a bug in the last patch ?
Did they change the event?
As far as i know, after you finish the "Defeat Poland" mission, you get an event with three choices. Either stay Teutonic Order for the Crusader Path, stay Teutonic Order but can become Prussia through the Holy Roman Diplomacy path or become a theocratic Prussia immediately when choosing the German Conquest path.
Essentially, defeating Poland lets you choose between going crusading or being more Prussian. If you choose the latter, you get the mission "The Order and the Empire" to decide how you'll deal with the HRE.
Completing that nets you the three-choice event, and you must choose to negotiate with the HRE or go on a German conquest to instantly become a theocratic Prussia. If you choose the third option, to avoid dealing with the HRE politics, you stay as you are (but can become Prussia later).
Post-LotN Teutonic Knights are...painfully convoluted. Not complicated. Convoluted.
I switched to prussia manually after admin 10 and switching to protestant. But that's nothing new that decision has been around long before the lions expansion.
