No thanks. Paradox have proven they can only make hollow shells of games at the moment. I don't want a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ EU5 with barely any features, mechanics, diversity and flavour when EU4 has all of that stuff and can still be added to.

I would not mind but I will still play EU4, one reason because I'm a new player but also because EU5 will have a new system, rather than the mana system. Now, will it be good? No idea. Also the player base is still strong.

There has been no indication from the developers that this is true. Maybe EU5 will use mana, maybe it won't. No one knows.

I understood that after Imperator, that the plan was not to go heavy with mana (obviously mana will always be in some sort of way because it's a strategic game, but not at the same level of EU4.)

https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/plz-dont-do-the-power-system-in-the-next-eu-game.1568255/#post-28766524 And Also this from Johan (he is Johan, The Man itself) "There will not be any mana in any game I make, unless its a game about magic."

But hey, I do believe EU4 will keep living and will still get dlc that already got a dlc.

You misunderstood Johan's point. He's referring specifically to mana in the magical sense. In his mind, monarch points are completely different from mana. And remember, he's the one who was lead designer of EU1, 2, 3, and 4. He's totally fine with a monarch point system.

Posters here and on the official forum tend to use "monarch points" and "mana" interchangeably. Johan does not.

You think so? well, one way or another, I would not mind EU5. At least Imperator 2.0 is fantastic, and I would love just scrap Imperator and put it on Eu5.
let em fix victoria 3, imperator rome and other titles first. then and only then should they even start working on europa universalis 5. also europa universalis 4 doesnt need a successor right now. the game plays quite well, still looks pretty enough and has a very big playerbase. not to mention loads of content which would certainly not carry over in its entirety to the next installment of the series because paradox likes to withhold content to sell it as DLC later. they make great games but lets face it.. their business practices are a bit questionable.

I don't expect this to change sadly. Literally everything they've been releasing is empty and poorly thought out trash. The only thing they're actively working on that isn't complete garbage is EUIV and even then they botch it up a fair bit with each patch/DLC. One step forward and at least two back. It's been that way for many years now. Then again Paradox games have generally been bad upon release but lately it seems especially bad.

Would also explain how poorly received I:R was on launch. From what I understand, the game was based almost entirely on what fits the popular definition of "mana" points. People told the developers prior to release that it would be a big mistake, Johan ignored them. As a result, the game was lambasted on release, and tragically got canned immediately after getting its first fairly well-received expansion (which coincidentally was the first expansion developed without Johan as lead, as he'd since been shipped off to head EU4's new team instead).
