Can I get Academical achievement if I form Latin Empire?

I'm playing as Athens and going for Academical. After the next war with Ottomans I will be able to form Latin Empire. Will this make me unable to get the achievement since I'm technically no longer Athens?

One of the completion requirements is "Is Athens," so I don't think you can form another nation. It's been a very long time since I did this, though.

Yeah I saw that, just wasn't sure if Latin Empire is one of those tags that doesn't really change your tag (like caliphate for example). Maybe I'm wrong about all this.

I'm like 99% sure that's just a name change at the moment, it doesn't change your actual country or tag. It's not like "You were Athens, tag ATH, and now you're Latin Empire, tag FARKINGFOURTHCRUSADETRAITORS".

Yeah from the crusader mission. So I can switch just fine?

Make a save backup just in case. You ought to be fine, but I may be wrong, and it's not worth the hassle of redoing the campaign just for a few extra permaclaims right now.

It worked! The ingame achievement screen switched the requirement from "is athens" to "is latin empire".

It's actually a big deal since it switched me from dutchy to empire so it's not just about the claims.

oh man. i trusted your comment here , and form Latin Emp by not having a backup save. and now the achievement can not be satisfied for my case:(

i can still see it in the achievement tab; but it says "is athens" still. and i contiuned and construct 50 universities, but can not get the achievement. wasted several hours.

wrting this for future readers, DO NOT form latin empire.

Do you have all DLCs? It worked for me.

And you started as Athens right? If so then I have no idea why it didn't work.

It's a different game version from when you completed it, Octo. Perhaps it was never intended to be possible as the Latin Empire, and the devs have prevented it now.

Latin Empire is a new formable end-game tag through the Crusader missions now, as it happens. At the time of the question and answer, it wasn't and therefore the achievement worked. As of v1.35, the change came through. All Crusader-specific achievements now require you DO NOT switch to being the Latin Empire.
