A Mod to lower the chance of death for a ruler while leading
It's always giving me a very weird feeling of how likely your monarch is going to die if you make him a general. It might of course increase the chances of dying, but in EU4 it is extremely more than expected. It was like this a 10 years ago and still like that, you are insane if you make a good ruler a general.

But when i think of Ottomans, almost all of their early and mid era rulers where leading armies directly but only one of them died by the cause of leading and army, and it was an assassination.

So, i am looking for a mod, that simply gets rid of the penalties for monarchs leading armies. It would be even better if all the nations rulers automatically becomes generals (and a good one). That shouldn't be the most unrealistic thing in a game like EU4 but it can induce some immersion.

Anyways, even a cheat code or a simple mode that makes your ruler not die in 2 years while leading armies would be amazingly good for me.

There's no added chance of death until the 5th year of military service is reached, whether it is a leader or a monarch. However, the probability of death is then checked DAILY, and it increases if the individual is assigned to a unit; and increases even more if they are in battle or sieging (for which there is a normal "active service" death chance anyway).

It's also worth pointing out that until the beginning of the 21st year of service, this added chance of death is not increased. So from years five to twenty of being a leader, your guys have the same flat percentage chance of death due to service - namely, a yearly* 2% if unassigned, 3.9% if assigned, and 13.1% if in battle/siege. Other chances of death due to age or unlucky event are unaffected by this.

*Daily chance works out at roughly 0.005% if you're interested.

EDIT: So yeah, it's really just an observation bias. We all get it, mainly because we are always aware of when OUR side loses generals and rulers, but we don't see how many of other nations are losing their dice rolls.

There is one truth apart from the numbers, making your ruler a general increases the chance of death incredibly, as far as i have experienced, and that sucks.

With good reason, commanding armies was a dangerous business back in the day.

Not necessarily ending up in a really early death every single time. Especially out of combat, makes no sense.

Stress.

Or even training accidents, camp diseases, randomly being chucked off a horse and landing wrong. There's an entire litany of ways people in power died back then.

Training accident is probably the best one for laughs - anyone else remember what happened to James II of Scotland? Brought a bunch of new cannon in readiness for a siege, tried to show one off to a mate, and it blew up along with him.
