If I release a nation using imperial ban CB does it get added to the empire immediately?
I have to get a bunch of provinces from commonwealth so I don't get IA penalty. I was wondering if I have to core them myself or if I can just release those nations and they get added to the empire.

My GC is pretty full right now.

You can release them if those provinces are cores of nations that don't currently exist and have the right culture. They'll become your vassal and will join the HRE if they meet the other requirements (in Europe, Christian, low enough total development, adjacent to existing HRE provinces, etc). Or you can give them to your own HRE vassals, or sell them to other HRE nations.

I just want to release them as their own nations. I don't want to vassalize them.

If you release a nation from land you own, it will be your vassal. To avoid that, force your enemy to release them in the peace deal--if you can. Warscore cost might make that impossible.

The released nations will be a part of the empire if their capital is part of the empire. For example, at game start forcing Provence to release Bar with both provinces will result in Bar being a member as the one imperial province is the default capital. If the capital is not part of the empire then it will not be a part of the empire although it could later join under the conditions Marquoz listed.

Yeah my plan is to do it in a peace deal.
