El Dorado is MUCH better than Conquest of Paradise, and even supersedes it somewhat.
In fact, because of:
1. Automated Exploration
2. Custom Nations
3. Huge buff on religions for natives in Mexico and Peru
4. Gold fleets
then I consider this to be the second best DLC in the game.
The only reason to buy Conquest of Paradise is to play a native nation in the USA or Canada region.
What is interesting to me is that I frequently disable some DLCs for some achievements. But there are 2 DLCs I have never disabled:
Art of War
El Dorado
Both of those have zero negative traits for all nations, imho.
The two I have disabled by far the most are:
Common Sense - prevents the AI from developing their provinces in runs where I do not want to develop my own (blobbing runs mostly).
Wealth of Nations - good only if you are playing a nation in Europe. Bad for the majority of the ROTW. The only thing I miss disabling WoN is not being able to move your main trade port without moving the capitol also.
Conquest of Paradise in one I have disabled occasionally when I play a European nation and plan to colonize in Canada or USA. No CoP makes the natives there much weaker.
p.s. I find it kind of stupid of paradox to make you need one of these for requesting support for independence yet it's not a selling feature listed on either of them.
Weird for sure. I always thought that feature was in Art of War.
