question about great projects
I own CK2 with relative expansion to build from the ground up great projects like gardens, churches and so on, but I still haven't bought eu4's leviathan, so I was wondering, do the great projects/monuments work in the same way as they do in ck2? can they be built and demolished at will or are they fixed and can't be removed nor new ones be built?
I tried to find some answers in the wiki and online but there isn't much about it

I don't know how they work in ck2, but in eu4 they can't be demolished at will. They will be downgraded if the province changes hands in a non-peaceful way(but not below tier 1). And you can upgrade them up to tier 3(magnificent). Each tier above 0(insignificant) gives bonuses. Depending on the monument, they are for the province, area, region or nation. Each monument has a fixed starting province and only 4 of them can be moved during the game(but that's usually not helpful). About half the monuments start at tier 0 which represents that they didn't exist at the game start (or were not in use like the Pyramids). Upgrading them could be considered as building the monument.

CK 2's system is far superior to the one in EU IV in pretty much every way.

Thank you for the informations, in CK2 the player can build them basically in any province (one per state) and they are divided in categories and it's plenty, statues, great walls, gadens, palaces, religious buildings, mausoleums etc. and each can be developed further adding features and parts. They are basically extremely costly and time consuming buildings that grant very good bonuses. It's perfect for roleplay, like building a statue to celebrate a great victory, gardens for a beloved family member, a great religious temple in an important city or maybe a great palace for the ruler himself.

Yeah, it's not like Ck2. Eu4's are more like wonders. They are one on the map. They grant various bonuses, and they aren't all equal at all. They are a huge investment to make them what they could be. Some are religiously dependant. I think they're better than Ck2.

You can't build them yourself in EU4 and the only way to upgrade them is to pay a big sum to make it the next level, no smaller upgrades like you see in CK2.
