Forcing a truce reset

Hi all,

I'm playing Austria and I'm trying to trigger the mission/event that allows me to subjugate Hungary, while also completing the Reign in Northern Italy decision. So, I have a lot to do in a span of ~45 years.

I'm also allied with Poland, who declared war on the Tuetonic Order, Hungary's ally. So, now I'm at war with Hungary. The truce will last a long time after the war, and I won't have enough time to do both, subjugate Hungary and complete the mission.

So, after the war I plan to ally myself with Hungary after improving relations, then break our alliance. When you break an alliance, the truce lasts 5 years. Will this reset the older truce (from the war) and replace it with my shorter, 5 year truce?

I don't think so. You'd just have to wait it out.

I believe they fixed this expliot in one of the patches. Now, the longest truce timer always governs.

I think you will have to break the truce to attack them, which can be quite costly.
