Colonizing India as Great Britain?

Hey folks,

I've been away from the game for a long time, and have recently gotten back into it. I decided to try my hand at an English play through, and have managed to colonize most of Eastern America and Canada. I also managed to get Cuba and am steering trade up to NA. I currently have the mission to establish trade in India, and really want the bonuses to Global Trade power, but i'm not sure how to do it. I can't fabricate claims or build cores, and there are no unoccupied provences on the subcontinent that I can send a colonist to. How do I take Land in India and core it? I have taken Cylon in an illegal war, and established a protectorate over them, but I still cannot generate claims based off of their territory. I'm at a loss. Any tips would help as i'm at about 1650 and would like to have a British Raj by end game even i could never steer the trade back to the Channel. Thanks!

Imperialsim cb into india, or expansions cb. You can colonize an adjecent to the maldives, fab a claim and conquer it, then invade. You probably will want admin if you intend on going for master of india.

I have a subjegation CB on Bengal, but thats it. As of right now I can't take them. Too few transports to land an adequate army to defeat them and their allies. How to I get Imperialism and expansion CB? there are pleanty of Indian states taht I could conquer, and now have Ceylon as a landing point for my troops and a base for my fleet.

Maldives are taken and I can't fab a claim on them, even with protectorate on adjacent tile. i'm playing 1.16.3

again, the primary issue is coring territory. I have enough stabliity to burn to declare a war without a CB and not have problems.

Colonize a few provinces to act as stepping stones to get near India. West Africa, one near South Africa and then East Africa (usually an island around there thats available). Your still not going to be able to make a claim, but Imperialism CB will work and you will be in coring range from the nearby colony.

May need one more stepping stone colony, last time I did that I was Venice and attacked the Mamluks and territorial cored the Suez area. That allowed me to get a territorial core down near the Horn of Africa and then no-cbed a Sind vassal and took it in West India. So you can do it without colonization.

When you get there, it'll probably already be united by Bahmanis or Vahsomething, what you should do is get some adjecent provinces, bring your army there, and just conquer everything.

You could go with imperialism cb or get the indian colonization mission most colonizer nations get

Europeans get a mission to conquer India that magically gives claims on a whole bunch of provinces specifically to allow this. Later they get the same thing for China. If you don't want to do a no-CB war, just watch for those missions.
