you know that the hype makes the game sales not actually the game quality
just check out total war warhammer3 the hype made it sell better then ever, despite it being a half unfinished beta
usually the studios are claiming selling you an actual finished game so... else you trust them else you don't
in most of the cases the hype carries your willingness to buy raghter then the trust into a studio
how many ppl baught emperor despite knowing paradox will screw their new dlc release...
we know, by now, it made eu4 worst (or one of the worst ) rated game on steam by that time
same happened to tww3 a 2d biggest ever title on steam in terms of sales (and there are other plateforms) got rekt by the community review bombing
after 6 months of patches the game is hardly reaching a poor 50 user score on metacritic
for a title like total war warhemmer it's tragic, going dawn from 166k to 22k users peak in less 30 days
it is very probably that the more the community pushes paradox into developping their supposed eu5 the scenario of the release will end being similar
Yes cråck, at the moment the video games market (on some others) is full of compulsive consumers (or even addicts). And it's not a niche anymore. The world is full of gamers and developers. They're hundreds of game released every month for different ludic medias including phones.
As said here, players won't be that much listened by big studios on Steam, not much more on their forum. They usually have a strong business plan to respect their investors deadlines and pay a huge amount of wages and structural costs. Then, they try to make enough sales quickly to offer discounts to increase volumes afterwise, and a good marketing to increase the hype is quite recommanded.
I'm pushing an opened door here anyway, but that's why I'm a late buyer. I don't need to play a game specifically, there's plenty of choice. And with humble bundle I can get some AAA for less than the best discount. I'm okay to pay, just not for the current pricing. I manage my personal costs, it improves my financial comfort.
