whats with the game not closing when i alt f4?

whenever i alt f4, i have to force quit steam as it somehow says its still open when closed. this is no good, i also verfiied intregity. shame

Unless you have specifically coded that key in the key commands for that game, and frankly I'm not entirely certain you can it won't close the game. Alt keys to open and close and minimize and enlarge a game haven't be a thing in a long time as far as I know.

even exiting legitimately turns out to keep the game still somehow open :( i only just exited that way via the menu'but no success

I guess you'll have to do it the hard way via task manager.

As long as Alt+F4 is configured as the shortcut for closing the current window in your OS, your OS should tell this to eu4. But like any other program, eu4 is not forced to close because of this(other programs often ask the user if they should really exit to avoid data loss). But eu4 normally closes when Alt+F4 is pressed.

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. Is there an eu4 window which is still open? Or is it just steam which says that eu4 is still running? If it is just steam, have a look at the task manager and look if there is still an eu4 process or a paradox launcher process. If there is no such process, it could also be that steam is trying to sync your cloud save and this either fails or takes a long time. If you don't actually use cloud saves, you could try to disable the cloud sync and see if it helps

yeah only steam says that eu4 is still running when its not. i dont see it in the task manager too after i close it. but the next time, I'll probably try to task manager close eu4 while its open. in ck3, alt f4 to rewind a few years doesn't work in that game - so its normal to task manager close there.
