There needs to be another way to activate the spread of feudalism. I just played an Australian start and feudalism could not be started until 1650. I have complained about this before but quit the game for a year. I do have over 7000 hours in the game so I know a little about it as well.

Though being in Australia couldn't you colonise and move by someone to get Feudalism sooner?

No, natives can only colonize adjacent provinces, they can't go over water unless there is a strait crossing no matter how much colonial range they may actually have.

My guess is that the developers intention is that you have to wait for the Europeans to show up before you can leave Australia. But there are two other ways: You can stay migratory and use your last government reform to become a horde. Or you can get exploration ideas and use an exploit to discover countries with Feudalism. Then you can no-cb them and take provinces to embrace the institution. Some of the exploits have been fixed, but there is a way which still works. In this comment I explain it a little and the follow up comments and the rest of that reddit post have more details.

I had all the exploration ideas and all the provinces in Aussie filled except for one I left open. Castile didn't land there until 1650 lol I immediately reformed up to global trade and explore the whole area but my last province on aussie was the last province available on the map by that time and i was 10 techs behind in all 3 so couldnt take provinces by force. So in other words I have to use an exploit instead of a legit within the rules way. This is why I quit playing for a year.
