As right now it doesn't seem like its a good idea but I know how crazy these holy wars can get. I have never converted to Protestism so I'm not 100% if I should, any help would be great.

Don´t do it unless you want to roleplay. Too late now - you should have converted early and got a Center of Reformation. Stay catholic.

If you haven't yet integrated Lithauania, then converting might risk you losing the union. Could be fun to force the will of a protestant commonwealth onto the heretic catholics of the HRE, but it'll be a risky strat, and you'll prolly need to grab humanist or religious ideas (and if you go humanist then it barely matters) very soon if you do.

IMO, converting now will get you about a century of internal pain in the butt while converting, so I'd say stay catholic, but if you convert, then grab religious ASAP for the extra missionary.

Thanks guys, I thought it would be a little risky.

It always is, even if you want the CoR. If you have a solid base of 5-7 cardinals, the reformation is dumb. The only real advantage it would give to you is winning the religious League War to make protestant dominate and thus increase your chances at being emperor. Else, specially if you have plausible means of being emperor as catholic... don´t bother.

also with lowering the mercantilism in papal gains and since one 20 dev province will gain you about 20 papal influence. catholism is so much stronger in the long run cause you will swimm in money and all the boni protestants get you can pay in mercs and than some (also always 3 stab ) is nothing to sneez at imho

Protestantism is probably my favorite or second favorite religion in the game, give some really good bonuses, but if youre a really large nation and dont get a center of reformation most of the time it isnt worth it because of the huge hit to prestige and instability.

Break your country to Coptic rebels and have some fun :)

That does sound interesting.

If you want to convert without a center of reformation with such a large country, convert via religious rebels.
