Honest Guide to turn Norse easily! Just turned Norse as Sweden and I am SO Happy: quick guide on (for me) the easiest way to become Norse through an event)
Thank you all in this forum for making this happen! I have had a lot of help through this forum, so thank you!

Here is a guide:

I started as Sweden. As soon as possible, become independent. You can, in your independence war, take Faeroer to be sure to have decent colonial range. Then, start colonizing asap (my first idea was expansion) Labrador or a seaboard colony province in Canada. Then, colonize Miami or 1 in Florida at least. THen, if you can reach Venezuela/Colombia and attack it, attack that OPM (I forgot the name but it is there). Take it, provoke revolt, and have the animists island hop. They will hop only to provinces 3 sea tiles away max. And they also hop to unfinished colonies. So if you need to then, colonize 1 province in Cuba quickly, let them hop to your Florida province, let them hop more north, until they hop to Iceland (if you need Greenland, quickly create a colony there, let them hop, and then abandon it). Once they get to Iceland, they are in Scandinavia and you will get the event where Norse zealots spawn. Just let them take over your country as much as possible (dont liberate provinces! they need to own half to change your religion!). Once they have half of your provinces, they can break your country. Once they do that, you are now Norse.

It happened to me around 1530, but I made some mistakes (I didnt let them have 50% of my provinces first, which meant they enforced demands, but did not change my religion, so I had them break me a second time). So I believe it should be possible to do this as a normal person around 1520, as long as the Age of Religion as Started).

Actually it can be helpful to liberate your provinces, because they will break your country when more than half your provinces are occupied, but they only convert you if norse is the religion with the most development in your country. If they convert lower dev provinces or occupy provinces without converting them(next to active forts), they can break your country long before they reached enough development,

I'm now wondering whether it would be quicker just to colonise Tenerife (without its base religion changing) and nabbing a couple of provinces from Portugal and England (Madeira and the Azores, Mann) and perhaps a couple in Ireland; and just letting the animist revolt spread from there.

Tenerife is an interesting idea. I didn't realize that it starts as animist. If you remove the colonist before the colony reaches 400 settlers, it should keep the animist religion, because it starts with 500 natives. I don't know how the sea tiles are counted, but Madeira and Connaught in Ireland could be enough to let the rebels jump to Faroers, Shetland, Orkney or Iceland.

Indeed. You just have to make sure you grab it before Castile or Portugal - and Castile, for what it's worth now, has its first colony mission explicitly wanting Tenerife as an alternative to the Americas.

Thats a good possibility. But you would have to beat Castile before that and find a way to get to Ireland. My way makes that you don't need to fight difficult wars or use no casus belli wars. If you want a relaxing way to do it, do it my way. If not, use the Tenerife one. Don't forget, you need to be in the age of reformation anyway to fire the Norse event, so much faster than I did it is not even possible.
