Change nation using console commands?

Not talking about the "tag" command. I want to go back from a formed Holy Roman Empire to France, for example. Is there a command for that?

there isn't a console command for this. You could use run files[eu4.paradoxwikis.com], but I guess it would be pretty complicated to undo all the effects of the HRE formation. You might even need save game editing to resurrect the HRE.

The closest you might get to unpacking that mess would be to ask the folks over at the Extended Timeline mod. They'd need to account for the formation of the HRE in their possible runtime. Maybe they've worked out a way that you could modify yourself to reinstate it.

Dunno man. There's no non-modded way to restore any of the Holy Roman Empire, the Mandate of Heaven, or the Papacy once they've been disabled. It would be...a lot of work. Way beyond anything I know how to to do.

You would have to create the event first. But then you can just create a run file with the effects which you want to execute.
Don't you have an earlier save to which you can return?
Or did we misunderstand you and you don't actually want to undo the formation, but instead just want to change your tag to France? Then you can just use a run file with the change_tag command. But that won't undo any of the other effects of the country formation.
