I couldn't care less about "remastered" graphics. I do want gameplay mechanic overhauls though, specifically a population system and a trade overhaul so that the flow is dynamic. Those things would only be possible with an EU5.
For example if they change the map to look like the crusader kings 3 map instead of the current look (which is quite similar to crusader kings 2), i wouldn't even consider it an improvement. More like a sidegrade.
Eh, I was ok with the level of difficulty to do so in EU 2, ever since its gotten progressively easier to the detriment of the game.
The possibility of world conquest will always influence further development of the game though, just to make sure world conquest is still possible. Getting too large too fast should have extreme negative repercussions, from the outside and from the inside. Right now its far too easy to deal with this.
I imagine coalitions of great powers when someone gets a little too big for thei liking, problems with non-accepted cultures somewhat akin to the Dutch Revolution, peace treaties where your allies tell you what they want and if they dont get it there will be considerable opinion damages, more focus on economy and diplomacy, maybe states have their own governors with a new approval system... just something to go away from constant expansion.
I'd love to see EU5 with a new engine, adapted to modern multi-core computing.
I hope they prove me wrong and make EU5 a proper successor to EU4, so EU4, with ALL it's content, keeping the same aesthetics and design and revamping it all to 11. I suppose that's a remaster though...
Is it easy to do world conquests on the hardest difficulty level? I haven’t gotten to that point even on normal difficulty but I can already see how it could become easy.
The hardest difficulty doesnt really change much except for fair fights and since you dont want to fight fair anyway it doesnt really matter. Especially for WC it doesnt matter because the usual strategy is to go into india, asia and africa early on and annex europe in the lategame.
Well, let's say if you can manage to do a WC from an OPM start, going up onto harder difficulties just becomes an exercise in how much you are trying to help the AI slow down your inevitable triumph, and most of the help the difficulty offers them is not all that great.
Paradox lately has trended more towards making their games simulator rather than traditional strategy games, which is nice, but I'd also like to see more of their roots in some of their games. Plus, I think with the number of resources they have now could make for something really interesting. But I don't think board games, especially online board games, are where the money's at atm.
These two things plus good multicore support are my biggest EU5 desires.
