Trophy Hunter achievement
Hi everybody,

after several months (or years?) of trying to get this damned achievement above, I thought by myself: Well, now it's time to ask the community :reexcited: So folks: Are there any further conditions to get "Trophy Hunter" than the mere "Capture an enemy flagship"? I managed this several times in a couple of runs, but the achievement didn't pop up... do you know something about this? I'm really at my wit's end...

Thanks in advance, cu

The obvious question to ask is: are you running an unmodded ironman game? If not, the achievement will never pop.

only other conditions based on the game code is that you own Golden century DLC and the following

ironman = yes
start_date = 1444.11.11
normal_province_values = yes
normal_or_historical_nations = yes
NOT = { num_of_custom_nations = 2 }
NOT = { nation_designer_points = 202 }

@Marquoz: Well, as I play only unmodded Ironman... but I know what you mean - playing normal mode with mods and hunting achievement won't fit ever :reconfused:
@salatrin: Interesting... where do I get the achievement conditions? To be honest, I never searched for it in the data...

The easiest way to get achievement information is here:

https://eu4.paradoxwikis.com/Achievements

The wiki page tells you who you must start as, who you can finish as, lists special requirements, and ranks achievements by difficulty. However, note that its strategy suggestions are sometimes awful. Many of them are out of date, while others were bad from the very start.

As for why you can't get the achievement to pop, since you're playing unmodded ironman, I have no clue. It did for me, but that was years ago. Perhaps there's a bug now.

Is the achievement shown in the ingame achievement list? (the trophy icon below the pause button).

Note that the wiki listing is in some bizarre order so finding the one you want can be a real chore. Personally I just go to steam/steamapps/common/eu iv/common and open the achievement text file then use search to get to the one I want.

The achievements.txt is a good source if you really know what all the condition code means. But the wiki is more approachable for people who are not familiar with the files.
The wiki is ordered by the difficulty rating and then alphabetically.
You can use the search function of your browser to quickly search for whichever achievement you want to see. Or you can change the order of the achievement list on the wiki by clicking on the table headers.

Hi folks,

thx for your hints... as I play EU4 for eight years and I've got about 2/3 of the achievements, I'm just enerved that this one seems to be more difficult than I thought. For several times I had the event "Flagship captured!" (I captured an other flagship, not the AI got mine), and nothig happened *sigh* Dunno what's the problem...

Thx,

Dionysos79

Did you check the ingame achievement list? Is the achievement shown there?
Lord Kraken Sep 23, 2022 @ 10:18am
Grotaclas' question is a good one. If the achievement isn't listed in the in-game achievement list, it's possible you already attained it and didn't realize it at the time, especially if you weren't specifically going for it in that game. This happened to me (with that specific Trophy Hunter achievement) several years ago. You could also check your list of attained achievements. Maybe TH is there.
