Conquest vs Reconquest
Let's say you plan to take 8 provinces. Half will be vassal core reconquest, and the others are just plain conquest for yourself. Is there any reason at all to choose conquest over reconquest??

Not really. Reconquest comes with reduce AE and warscore cost for the provinces that have cores on them, but Conquest does not give reduced AE or warscore cost for anything. There's something to be said regarding the Diplo point cost for Unjustified Demands - if the provinces you have claims on have a lot more development than your vassal's cores, you'll be paying a lot more monarch points for taking those claims in a Reconquest war than you would taking your vassal's cores in a Conquest war. But if that's really a concern for you, you might be better off just declaring two separate wars - first a Reconquest for the cores where you keep the truce nice and short, then a Conquest afterward for your claims.

Was watching a let's play, and maybe it was the diplo he was concerned about. Thank you.

To be fair, using the Conquest CB and retunring the cores of your vassal, either with the specific treaty option or by just giving it to them, has the same amount of warscore and AE as if you would do it with Reconquest CB. At least that is my experience and i may be wrong, but i did test it out and if there is a change, its so minimal that its not even worth mentioning it. Reconquest CB just seems to be a free CB and thats it.
