EU4 Capital Of Holland?
I’m playing a eu4 game as Holland, I haven’t formed the Netherlands yet. Should I spend 200 admin pints to move my capital to Amsterdam? Or does forming the Netherlands move it automatically?

No, forming Netherlands does not move the capital. It remains in Den Haag.
Is there a reason you want the Capital in Amsterdam?

Obviously he is etiher trying to stack development costs, or just thinks that Amsterdam is life.
The Hague does not have the entrepot and therefore lategame you can combine the mass amount of modifiers and make it the Goldenlands.

So I should stick with de Hague?
CyPunk Oct 1, 2018 @ 7:52am
I did. I cannot load my save right now, have to roll back to the previous patch. However, iirc Den Hague also has a development cost reduction... ever since they added more centres of trade in a recent update. I could be mistaken though.
Moreover, really as the Netherlands you will super develop every province. I've never played a game where I was so quickly the biggest world power starting with three provinces.
So I would save your admin points and use them elsewhere.

The combination of the renissance, the first imperial reform, the captial province, cloth production, farmlands, full economic ideas, the third national idea of polders, and the burghers with good influence and loyalty, and with a protestant aspect of organisation through bishops, plust the important trade port wheter inland or a port.
IT will soon add such a reduction to the cost of development, so if you were free from burgundy and willing to wait 100 years ingame, you could invest fully in economic and naval ideas, or trade if you feel the need to supplement your mighty trade power. Investing in 9 ideas will fill that space and give you the polders for 10% reduction.

Once you reach that point the reformation may occur and then it is best for you to spawn one of the reform centers unless you would rather not join the true reformed catholic church, or you could have immense wealth and would lose some prestige and perhaps reputation with allies, and even be likely to get the britons to convert and keep them at bay as you survive.
Assuming that you survived the meat grinder of europe and got all the easy modifiers, now is the time to blow all your monarch points on mass development and then wait for the time to strike if you so desire to control it all. Plus if you get quantity ideas as your second group, then that combined with economic would allow you a policiy that is 10% reduction, making it 30% with full economic.

I had gotten myself up to 50 development in each province until austria had went and let the danish and frisian pirates come and torch it all and all thanks to the fleet being my wooden wall.

Eh I don’t have the dlc which allows people to support your independence, so I like to just steam roll tech and delete all my units and wait for the succession to happen
Old Man Chimere Oct 1, 2018 @ 10:18am
I do not have the Art of War content either, rather it just takes heart to wait for the Burgundian succession crisis to occur, or any other thing such as being released in a war. Player nations cannot be inherited upon ai ruler deaths, meaning that you will just become literally independant from the such event. but all the others under the union are ceded to whomever gets the event. They can also integrate you after 50 years if they can even last without the french assaults.
Withhold your units in any war and let burgundy fall, and either they will croak or the people at war with them will then come for you and the worst part of all is that ai nations literally hesitate on peace deals since 1.25. From that point on you will have to deal with the foolish bots and rack up war exhaustion for what your overlord should have ended.

I only have Common Sense and Rights of Man and so indepenance is only a dream, i have gotten free sometimes and the rest is usually me just becoming the meat shield.

Its kinda hard to stack that nice HRE development bonus, since forming netherlands drops you out of it.

Even after having formed the Netherlands, the idea groups do not change for Holland due to them already starting with dutch ideas. Developing massively and then forming it is always and option, but otherwise the imperial reform bonus is merely but 5% that can also be exploited by using it up to thwart the emperor from wanting to declare war, after they do get cores from the territory removed if I am not mistaken. But if you revoke the privlegia and Holland holds the imperial title, then I guess there is not much to worry about.
