Colonial Range and Fleet Basing Rights
Could we see a change to allow nations with Fleet basing rights in another nation be able to use the closest port of the host nation to explore and build colonies?

Drives me nuts that I can get basing rights from Portugal as England, but can't explore just a few tiles south or west from there.

Never had any issues with being behind exploring. I tend to go Africa, Ivory Coast Areas > West Indies > Mwxico... GIves good trade returns and you get the vassal income when you incorporate mexico as they have the aztec gold mines.

Have we gone full circle?

it's a sensible idea but i think for game balance it's probably needed as it is.

colonies make you rich so there needs to be a big investment in being able to build them round the world.

I think the fog of war could be changed , sometimes that can feel silly.

In order to get land close enough for me to build colonies in South America, I have to either vassalize one of the coast natives or attack Portugal, Morocco, or Castille. Obviously, I went with the former, but I believe that shouldn't be necessary. Makes it almost luck-based.

Basically, there are ways around this weird restriction, and it makes the whole restriction pointless.

Or you can get more range via tech and ideas... There are valid reasons why the Iberians settled South/Central America in the original timeline while France and England went to North America...

i disagree , you can easily build colonies in south america as england wihout anyones help.

Building colonies is all about getting to the best spots first and then the race to spread out to the good bits.

it's silly gameplay balance when you could just let Portugal build a colony then piggy back of that and steal all the best land.

Otherwise why invest to get there first when you can just wait for them to do it ? it would make no sense them letting you do it either , a player would tell you to ♥♥♥♥ off :) thiis is my lovely colony spot .

i just think how it is now is much better for gameplay .

That's fair.

I agree. Then, ignoring the colonization aspect, why is it that I can't at least explore from their ports?

i agree you should be able to explore , i wouldnt be against that.
