Anyone know what nation is the best start to become a pirate? Any good sources also be appreciated.

To play as this nation begin the game as Morocco. Once Granada falls to an Iberian Catholic and you have 5% privateering power in Seville you will receive an event allowing you to switch to them!

If you would like to get sneaky about it (you might even say piratical) you could have Morocco pour Monarch points into developing Sale ahead of your choice to play as them.

i don't have the pirate dlc BUT to add to that once you get the event delete all of moroccos troops and forts

If you start as Palembeng in Indonesia at the 1444 start you'll get an event within the first year to form a Pirate Republic. This is the quickest way to play as one when starting a game at the earliest bookmark.

Palembang is good as you can make a fairly early decision to become a prirate republic from the start of the game. That's if you don't mind playing in SE Asia
