or maybe u had an event which makes ur missionary power low, look at the modifiers
1. Convert to Orthodox, its really a better religion (espeically with Third Rome), make sure you secure any Cathloic alliances you want first, otherwise it will be a little harder after you switch to Orthodox.
2. Convert the provinces, either hire a missionary +2 advisor, religious ideas, state edicts (if you have the DLC for it). You will also get events and decisions that can boost missionary strength.
3. Humanist ideas, and just forget about wrong religion because you wont have any penatly for it.Once you have all the Polish ideas you also get +3 tolerance of heretics which is strong when used with Humanist ideas.
You are not supposed to be able to mass convert on game start.
It's +1 conversion resistance.
Which is A LOT compared to most religions which have no bonus or even a penalty that makes them easier.
Only Muslims, Shinto, and...i think Jews, have +2 conversion resistance.
You'll need to raise your missionary strength until your total is positive in that province.
OR you can purposefully get the rebels to fire and let them win to convert you to orthodox (you lose some prestige but if that saves you a lot of head-aches in the long run, it's worth it). (you need at least 51% of your development orthodox for the rebels to change your religion, but they auto-convert any province they siege that isn't protected by a fort's ZoC, so it won't take long to get that amount if you disable all your forts. And you can usually say yes to their demands as soon as they have enough territory converted to save time).
You can't normally change religions easily, aside for Catholic, which has some sub-religions that open up later. Most other religions don't allow it.
