EU4 most OP nation
Well we all know the ottomans are no longer the most OP nation after getting nerfed into the ground(7/10 games I play have seen the ottomans fight a major war within 10 years and either implode or survive but battered) so what's the most OP nation as of now

Saying countries like Prussia are the strongest reminds me of people who say builds in RPG's that are great at max level but not very good while your actually playing the game :)

Thats why i said "define".

Also looking at how the AI performs would be a possible definition - as it is mostly good with those that are overall good/decent.

Poland suffers from different problems right at the start for example - but its ideas are close to as good as Prussias and the dev is quite good.

yea i agree with you. Some countries like Prussia are amazing on paper but in reality agaisnt any player playing a powerful nation you would be annihilated while your space marines are nothing but a distant dream. The ottomans would be laughing at your pitiful army as they marched over it.

When i think of the ebst i imagine if i was playing as them against myself :) , i would take ottomans , ming and mughals any day. Unlimited moeny , ridiculous armies , huge development without any AE to worry about , no enemies. 2500 development while the others can only dream of 1000.

Same with Manchu - they are extremely good too but have a REALLY bad start and need around 50 years to be able to take on (AI) Ming and even then their income stays ♥♥♥♥♥♥ for a long time.

Timurids/Mughals are now easier to play and overall stronger, even the AI performs decent with it now. Obviously weaker than Ottomans still and probably Ming too (As they still need some time to grow) but stronger than Muscovy.

Ottomans are always the most OP starting nation. Their missions are ridiculously expansion heavy thus allowing them to become huge in less time than most countries. They have been (slightly) nerfed over the last year but that hasn’t stopped them from mostly being the dominant nation they’ve always been in my games. But the player can always find clever ways of dealing with them especially since the AI tends to get some really brain dead stacks that will sit on a desert province suffering attrition in the middle of Mesopotamia so you tend to not always deal with every man they have available but they are real annoying because of the income they have which allows them to merc up heavily a lot of the time so you have to find clever ways of dealing with them like trapping them on an island like Corfu or Naxos which is easily one of the safest, most dependable ways of dealing with the Ottoman menace. Do not try to take them on until you have better quality in your troops than they do and then you can wipe the floor with them if you can also manage to catch one of their armies far away from any reinforcements.

France is also OP once they get Elan unlocked but can be overcome if you have a good alliance chain and stay near your allies so they don’t do stupid decisions. Ming is very much an OP nation and can be a real pain to deal with for the same reasons that Ottomans are a pain to deal with as they are fairly rich (Ming is always the richest in the late game for me) which allows them to have a massive amount of troops and be able to spam out mercs everywhere and sieging their mountain forts is a priority and a pain to deal with. But if you manage to get through that hell hole you can overcome the odds. Other than that you gotta be clever with them as well; hell you can do the same sort of island trapping trick with Ming fairly dependable if you get a big enough navy yourself. My Shimazu game was hilariously fun while fighting Ming who outnumbered me by like three or four times because I simply got them to get trapped on islands like in Malayasia, the Chinese island south of Canton connected by a strait and even the strait that connects Ceylon with India. With the numbers now stacked in my favor due to them being permanently trapped on my islands I could them start the invasion of China and then went on to conquer the rest of it as I was at a permanent state of war with them ice I created client states in China and they permanently had black troops stuck on my islands. It was glorious.

That said in the hands of a player who has an idea of what they want to do just about any nation can be very OP especially England/Great Britain, France, Ottomans, Prussia, Poland/Commonwealth, Sweden, Castile/Spain, Ming, Mughals, Timurids, Mamluks, Manchu, Persia, Russia, or even Daimyo like Oda and Shimazu. Hell even Qara Qoyunlu and Aq Qoyunlu are super powerful once you get going, their national ideas are quite good, the latter just has a harder time initially because they’re smaller and have some stability issues due to Coptic zealots.

Yes but Jan Mayen doesn’t really count. They’re not someone you can play on Ironman mode without doing a cheat that involves the custom nations exploit and even then you don’t ge the real thing that makes them OP and that’s the Invasion modifier they get when they’re spawned through console command. They’re fun to mess with though to see how quick you can conquer a vast amount of land.

Nerfed into the ground? Because the lost a few cores? think you & I have a very different idea about that.

By that standard Byz is by this point nerfed down into the earths core considering the amounts of cores they lost since 1.0 & the amount of tactics no longer working.

I still think France is pretty OP. Easy win when the Maine event happen. I was able to ally Burgundy, Castile, Scotland and Brittany when England declared war and they got steam rolled by the Navy and Army since they were coming in alone lol.

Then was lucky enough to get the Burgundyinheritance within 10 years.

Austria requires rng but you can get bohemia, hungary in a union very early before 1460 usually and if you're very lucky the low countries before 1510. Then prevent the shadow kingdom from happening to get reformed HRE. Not to mention you need to destroy protestants but thats easy just force convert them.

France can also easily Reform HRE, has more starting Dev and better ideas + better ways of expanding.

Austria is not bad but i wouldnt even think about declaring it the most op nation.
