A holy empire: Council of Trent finished
There is a requirement in the mission A holy empire in the Austrian mission tree that "the council of Trent finished". I am at the start of the 19th century and still nothing. Does anyone have an idea of what this means?

The Council of Trent usually starts quite soon after the Protestant Reformation begins. The papacy chooses a position on four separate issues relevant to the religious tumult in Europe. It should have finished centuries before your current date. Do you meet the other required conditions for the mission? Did the Reformation and the Council ever start?

Were you Catholic when the Council happened? You fought for the Catholic, I assume, but were you the Emperor at the time? If not, was the Emperor fighting for the Protestant League?

The event The Reformation of the Catholic Faith[eu4.paradoxwikis.com] must have happened to start the council and then the event The Council of Trent Ends[eu4.paradoxwikis.com] must happen to end it. Unless there is a different way to end the council, it would be too late for your game, because the ending event can only happen in the age of absolutism or during the league war.

Thanks for the help.

After going through similar threads in reddit EU4 I think I found the answer.
It seems I was too successful with forcing religion within the HRE and therefore the council of Trent never occurred. It seems that there has to be at least one heretic prince between 1530 and 1560 for it to trigger. Since it didnt occur, it didnt finish either.

More info about my game:
1. I was catholic throughout the game, never changed religion.
2. All the other requirements for that mission were met.
3, The council of Trent never finished so I could not complete this mission.
4. The religion war never triggered either (since there were never enough provinces/princes as I was quick to force religion on the one province princes the center of reformation appeared in).

Being too successful in fighting the reformation will cause this problem. But I don't see anything which requires a heretic prince between 1530 and 1560. The starting event just needs one protestant country which the papal states can see. It doesn't have to be an HRE prince and the earliest possible start can be earlier or later than 1530 depending on when the reformation started. And I don't see a 1560 time limit either. The ending event just needs the age of absolutism. But if the papal states doesn't exist at some point after 1609, the flag counter_reformation will be set and this prevents the starting event as well.

Got it, thanks for info!
