Increase dedicated memory size for Intel HD Graphics (new minimal requirement for EU4 1.23.0.0)
With new patch 1.23.0.0 and new DLC Cradle of Civilization, the game require new minimal requirement for dedicated memory size for GPU 512MB. For that reasons I got after every run a warning message about that.

Fortunately I found solution for players which have integrated GPU Intel HD Graphics, like me in laptop with Core i5-6200U. And where is not possible setup size of dedicated memory for GPU in BIOS.

You need add new key GMM via "regedit" in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel.

There (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\GMM) you will create DWORD string with name "DedicatedSegmentSize" where you will write size which you want to reserve for dedicated memory (in this case e.g. 512MB or more).

After reboot your integrated GPU will have 512MB of dedicated memory. With this the Europa Universalis IV 1.23.0.0 with all DLCs will not warning you that your GPU don't fulfill minimal requirement. :steamhappy:

IT DOES WORK

It sure does work, and thanks for the pointer! Intel's got some notes here, under Dedicated Memory Reporting: https://communities.intel.com/thread/75690
Doesn't seem to be working for me. I punched it into regedit and put 512 in decimal, then hit restart. The file is still there, but VRAM is unchanged. What, if anything, am I doing wrong?

@bananacheese999 you should find newer and better explanation on utube for you and PC. I have done it on macbookpro 2011 and change VRAM from 512MO to 1024M on HD3000 but game doesn't start. But I have a poor graphic card I know :)

As an integrated graphics user, can i ask what's stopping you playing the game? It's supposed to just be a one-time warning. If you go to \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV and open the settings file, there's an entry for it: been_told_of_low_vram=yes
That stops it popping up again.

Is that not being set/not working?

If you put "been_told_of_low_vram=no" in the settings file, it will warn you again. But if you set it to "yes", it should not give you the warning anymore.

Go to /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV and open file settings.txt, inside there find line
been_told_of_low_vram
and change it to yes
been_told_of_low_vram=yes

After that you will have no more text popping up

i'm wondering does it really allocate more vram to the integrated gpu or it only change the value that eu4 will check ?

It's a value that system will report, not actual VRAM amount so fake only to fool EU4 and other checks

Isn't 500MB to low for eu4? The official minimum requirements are 512 MB for Windows and 1024 MB for Linux and macOS.
NOTE:
processor above 4th gen cores are able to do that, to all who have lower generation then 4th , this wont work also i believe i5 was 1st one to push this for rendering base application like office application and TEMS so i3 Will Not work:steamsalty:
