3. If you are allied with the Elector, do they have to be in the war?
1. yes, it doesn't matter which CB you use and you don't need to occupy the capitals of electors which are allied to you.
2. Yes, you can do this in multiple wars as long as you occupy all the capitals at the same time. But you should note that you can't declare a war on an HRE member if you are at war with the emperor. And if you declare on an HRE member, the emperor will get a call to arms (and usually accept it unless the member is a rival of the emperor). So if you do multiple wars, you might have to peace out the emperor in the first war to declare the next war.
Ok, so if I am at war with the Emperor then I could not declare on Cologne. It would be easier to go to war with Cologne and drag Emperor into it. Got you. I am looking into dismantling HRE. I have 2 Electors allied already but sounds like I need to get more. One elector would get called in by Austria, I imagine. I am not worried about the Alliance because I have a force big enough to beat the entire HRE combined if I wanted at the moment. I am 2x as powerful as the next closest nation (Ottomans) in the Power Rankings.
I am going after Anglophile Achievement and this is one of the last big hurdles that I have left (along with taking Egypt). I am only in 1650 so I have a lot of time. My AE is high but going down fast so that is opening the door to ally with Electors.
Thanks. It has some similarities to rein in the Italians. The only difference is you have to get them all in one war instead of having the ability to do separate wars.
