the feel i'm getting from the "gaming news articles" before the creation of tinto was a push to unionize and become less "catering to fascists" and stuff,

at the same time, i wonder what role worker retention played a factor in the decision to unionize, as reports from before that time show a problem with shortage of labor.

its kind of hard to confidently speculate, though. down the tin foil hat route, barcelona is a very interesting and appropriate choice if they want to go woke, as the forces and resources that push that stuff certainly love that city. lots of lefties and historical revisionists. i wonder if that p[lays a role in multiple EU4 youtubers now planning to transition to "history videos" on the areas that EU4 focuses on for DLCs? But now i'm just having fun theorising.

'Less catering to fascists' was probably less catering to the right wing megalomania of Johan.
At this point, the way the executives have responded, it is apparent that they are never going to get their act together. I am looking forward to the next strategy game entries by publishers that are willing to innovate and create complete experiences.
Paradox has been the gorilla in the room for far too long. Their PR practices are disgusting. The clearly paid shills they have always garnered at the game review sites, the planted 'commentators' on boards, and their aggressive umbrage at the hint of valid criticism, have all been odorous for far too long.
All those resource spent on marketing could have been spent on Q&A, or even better, bringing in new blood to the company and actually listening to them.

From what I read Tinto is pretty small with a few veterans but it's mostly made up of new passionate hires recruited from the modding community. As for the reason why everyone else has been talking about, I have no clue.
