What's the point of Diplomatic Reputation?
I'm not flaming here. I really am not sure I understand its importance.

Everyone seems to treat it like it's super important but my understanding is it only adds 1% (per point of diplo, positive or negative) when figuring out if someone will help or harm you. Am I misunderstanding how this works? That doesn't seem like a large effect ... ?

It doesn't add 1% to anything. The effect of each point of dip rep depends on the diplomatic interaction. The wiki has a list of some of them[eu4.paradoxwikis.com]. Each point of dip rep gives for example +5 reasons for accepting an alliance. That is much more than 1% in typical situations where the other country has something like -40 reasons for acceptance and you already have some sources of positive reasons. A few more dip rep can make the difference between accepting and not accepting in these situations

So many areas where it matters. Do you like annexing vassals in years instead of decades? Diplo rep. How about getting allies to join your wars? Diplo rep. Isn't it better to inherit your PUs instead of integrating them? Diplo rep strikes again. And so on.

Like grotacias said, see the wiki for the full list. It's really strong.

I could swear the thing I read said 1% for 1 point. I'll re-read. Thanks. Maybe I'm just tired :)
