Launcher Broken No More Paradox Purchases

Ok, had enough. Jumped through trying to get any of my Paradox games to run. No Joy! So no more Paradox games or DLC purchases until this is resolved by paradox.

Did your jumping involve contacting the official tech support in the tech support forum[forum.paradoxplaza.com] or on the paradox support website? They can usually help with such problems. Most of them are things that paradox can't really fix automatically, because they are triggered by things on your computer(broken or missing windows libraries and ransomware protection software are common culprits). There was also a broken launcher update which was paradox's fault, but you have uninstall the launcher manually to get it working again

Uninstalling the game from the steam library doesn't uninstall the launcher.

To really uninstall the launcher, you have to do the following:
On Windows, first use the windows uninstall function to uninstall "Paradox Launcher v2"(if it is there). And then delete the launcher directories(if they exist):

• C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
  
• C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
  
• C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
  
• Documents/paradox interactive/.cpatch/
  
• every directory in Documents/paradox interactive/ that starts with launcher-v2

In Linux delete the directories ~/.paradoxlauncher and "~/.local/share/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/" and the file "~/.local/share/Paradox Interactive/launcherpath"

In macOS delete the directory "~/Library/Application Support/Paradox Interactive"

Well, I always thought uninstalling the game will also remove launcher exe file from EU4 folder, meaning the launcher itself can not be used anymore. The folders you mention are just for settings and data used by launcher.

After uninstalling the game, the launcher can't be used anymore, because it is missing the game specific launcher configuration(launcher-settings.json and the launcher-assets folder). The game files also contain the launcher installer and dowser.exe which is like a launcher for the launcher. But the actual installation including "Paradox Launcher.exe" is in one of these folders. I don't know which because I don't have a Windows system right now to check. In Linux the launcher executable of the current launcher version is "~/.paradoxlauncher/launcher-v2.2020.17.1/Paradox Launcher" (the folder name contains 2020.17.1 even though the launcher version is 2020.16, so that dowser.exe starts the downgraded version instead of the buggy version 2020.17).
If something is broken with the launcher, the problem is almost always with some of the files in the other folders and not with the files in the game installation folder.

The launcher has been greatly improved and many issues with it have been fixed since its release. But if the auto-update of the launcher doesn't work, you have to do some manual steps to get it running again. And in some cases there is other software on the computer which blocks the launcher. But I don't think that it is fair to blame paradox if some snakeoil on your computer (antivirus or ransomware protection software) blocks the launcher

Stellaris AI is completely broken and braindead. It's on life support and currency is being injected because it's too dumb to get any currency on it's own, alloys, minerals, etc.. Why create a whole new economic system but not remake the AI? Lazy game design to save money of course. The fanboys will still buy anything that paradox releases and I mean ANYTHING.
