Mission: Own 5 Provinces across 3 Trade Company Charters

I do not understand why I can't complete this mission where you need to own 5 provinces in 3 charters not on your own home continent.

I am Venice. I am based in Europe.

I completed the prerequisite mission.

I have something like 10 provinces in the Guinea Charter.

1 Province in the South African Charter.

4 Provinces in the East Africa Charter.

Does it matter not all of these are trade company provinces? That's the only I thing I can think of. The East African charter ones I think are all core provinces. Half the Guinea are core provinces as well.

Appreciate any guidance.

I've never done that mission personally--I always convert Venice to Italy long before I reach that point--but yes, they probably would have to be trade company provinces. You also might have to own 5 provinces in each of those trade companies.

You are talking about the generic mission expand overseas[eu4.paradoxwikis.com], right?
You must have at least 5 provinces in each of the three trade company regions. 5 provinces in total is not enough. But the provinces don't have to be part of a trade company. You can fulfill the mission even if you have no trade companies at all. I guess this is so that the mission can be fulfilled by players without a trade company DLC.

Marquoz, Ironically, completing Italy is proving extremely difficult for me. Just posted on another thread about my Africa campaign :)

15 would be enough if they are equally divided between the 3 trade company regions. But the 15 from your first post(10 in Guinea, 1 in South Africa and 4 in East Africa) are not enough. You would need to get 4 more provinces in South Africa and one more province in East Africa. Or you could try to conquer something in one of the other African or Asian trade nodes(e.g. Mali gold mines in the Timbuktu trade node).

I did a Venice to Italy run recently and chronicled it in the "Opinions on the best nation to form Italy" thread. If you use the Steam Discussions search function, you should be able to find it. If not, try searching for "marquoz Italy" and my posts from that thread should come up.
