Personally I only play latest version (giving the developers some time to fix major bugs after big updates). I don't buy all the DLCs but the base game is still updated.
But if you're not sure which version you would like best then I'd suggest trying them all, starting with 1.30 and going backwards from there.
Europa Universalis 3 is my favourite EU game, and I'm looking for a return on the money I invested in EU4.
That's why I made this topic.
For the moment I'm on Europa Universalis 2: For the Glory while waiting to decide which version I want.
Personally I have trouble understanding some of your choices because when I read the modifications and patches concerning 1.30 or 1.31
These two versions still seem broken.
So I don't know if what you're telling me is from your fanboy point of view or is true (I'm not provoking you, I just have a doubt, that's why I'm asking to collect information).
I'm going to wait for 1.31.5 to play a more recent version but apparently it doesn't seem to be enough according to the Beta.
Anyway, Brady noted 1.28, I'll take a look at the Wiki to see what's in there.
Thanks
The new launcher i think is so much easier to use for modding stuff. Was pretty bad at first though (no scrolling? how did nobody notice that?).
I had a lot of issues with the previous one that i don't have with the new one, ill say that much.
92.87% of Steam users are on Windows 10 (64-bit)
(as of the may steam hardware survey)
Ya at launch it was bad, but PDX has fixed many problems, idk if they fixed *all* of them.
I used to miss the old launcher but the new launcher is so much easier (in my opinion) to work with when it comes to modding, i had alot of issues with the old way of doing stuff, i think i completely deleted then remade a mod like 3 times just because that was easier than trying to find out what the problem was, and i have not had to do that with the new launcher. Alot of new buttons for the new launcher, all of which i think have a good purpose for existing relating to mods
This is all just my opinion of course, but as it is now, I prefer the new launcher by far.
Also, the reason why, is bc of modding, which is the mods are the best thing about PDX games.
-Concentrate development makes 80 AI development cities by 1600 and 5,000 development player capitals.
-An incredible amount of bugs, poor optimisation that slows the game down, lack of beta testers.
-AI keeps releasing nations if it's slightly over government capacity. Ex. Spain releases Aragon when it forms.
-Literal super natives that can go to duchy reform rank is less than 30 years.
I can sorta of run it, but it's unstable and crashes easily. Even FTG runs better.
For some strange reason, my EU3 works totally fine on Windows 10.
All my EU3 versions in fact.
I have both a Full Vanilla DVD version of my vintage collector's edition that works perfectly and my steam version "the Chronicle" that also works.
I've had crash but they were extremely rare.
I'm surprised that some people can't launch the game on Windows 10.
After I specify that my version of Windows 10 is a version chopped customize by me, it is perhaps that makes that I have no problem.
