There's no reason not to, but there's no real reason to do so either. Scandinavia has no unique National Ideas, no mission tree, and nothing else of major gameplay significance - you just keep whatever you already had as the country you formed Scandinavia with. Literally all that pressing the button does is change your nation's flag and map color - and give you permanent claims on the rest of the Scandinavia region, if you somehow haven't conquered it all already.
From latest patch Scandinavia is like playing Sweden - but with another name.

Still I do not recommend forming Scandinavia.

I'd avoid it just because Scandinavia is practically the same map color as the ocean. it's more annoying than you might think.

Well if you're looking for an alternative colonizer to the other europeans it's a good option. But yeah, not the biggest power-player

Their national ideas aren't good, but Denmark is much easier than most countries to blob like crazy with. Immediately attack Novgorod, which will permanently cripple Muscovy. Then you can expand at will in the Russian region. After that, grab the other Baltic nations and work your way through Scotland to England and Ireland while taking over north German provinces in the Lubeck node. You eventually switch your collection node to the English Channel and grab the entire northern coastline of Europe, which provides colossal income, and it's easy to play the colonial game with them too.

I would say yes but it is up to you.

As others have said, there's no reason not to. The long-standing advice to avoid it as Sweden was due to some nation-specific events that were available to Sweden but not Scandinavia (which I believe have since been changed to allow for a Sweden transformed) but there was never really any reason not to do so as Denmark or Norway.
