Dharma would make trade even better, but unless you plan on interacting with India, it can be hit or miss, but upgrading you trade centers can really help dominate trade.
Golden Century is hit or miss, most don't like it but the treasure fleet from the new world can be nice.
I honestly can't remember what the 2 new world dlc do anymore, but if you focusing on colonization the new world, you might check the description of the DLC and read the ratings on it.
What ever you do, you might want to wait for a sale, usually you get a sale every couple months, and almost everything will be half off.
Does Golden Century change something about treasure fleets? I don't own it, but I still get them.
I know GC adds a naval doctrine for Iberians(Castille, Aragon, Portugal etc.) that adds 50% treasure fleet income, but you ALSO need Rule Britannia to have naval doctrines in the first place.
If playing Portugal, the person BETTER be interacting with India, as id say that is a major part of playing Portugal :)

Mandate of Heaven, which indirectly gives a huge boost to Portugal's early-game colonization speed through the Age bonus system it adds.
Mare Nostrum, which adds the naval mission system in full, making exploration and discovery of the New World much easier and less micro-heavy.
Art of War, which apart from being generally agreed-upon as one of the "better" EU4 DLC's overall, is especially useful for navally-focused nations like Portugal by adding the ability to upgrade your fleets when new ship models are researched, rather than needing to rebuild every ship from scratch.
