Who to Ally as Muscovy/Russia?

So with the Curia usually taking harsh options towards heretics, what are my options forr decent allies? Is it pretty much the Ottomans or are there other options? (reformation got centered down in the HRE and denmark/sweden stayed catholic)

I always ally with Poland as a check on the Ottomans and then expand southeast into India and Persia. Much later, I'll betray them and take their Orthodox provinces, but its a low priority that doesn't happen until the mid-game. Getting the huge trade income from all the TCs I set up to the southeast is a much higher priority and makes Russia an unstoppable juggernaut.

England is usually a good check on other nations though if france somehow goes protestant go with them otherwise best to just go alone for awhile

I generally just fill diplo slots with more vassals for low ae reconquest wars (Sibir, Kazak, Chernigov, Kiev, Polotsk, Astrakhan, and so on). I'm generally more worried about bad alliances among my targets than finding an ally because there are few useful ones.

Ended up actually teaming up with the Ottomans. They were pretty useful for beating up Poland with all the claims I have as Muscovy however there getting to the point where I will probably let them go and find someone to tag team them with.

That is the way, ally whoever will help you the most against your biggest threat then dump em when you don't need them anymore or you just want their land. I usually ended up allying Sweden, at least for a while. Denmark will end up a problem for you if you don't take them out so pushing for Sweden's independence and then using them to protect your northern borders while you expand into Crimea/Astrakhan/Lithuania is a solid move.
