Viewing HRE as emperor
Is there any quick way to check which of your provinces are part of the HRE when emperor? The standard mapmode doesn't work because it just shows all my provinces as the emperor.

Just add all newly conquererd provinces to the empire. The is a button in the bottom left of the province overview.

Well, I haven't been doing that and now I have many that are not. Now what?

Be emperor, click on the province and then click on the golden bird button to add it to the empire.

I know how to add provinces to the empire, I want to know if there's any way to see which provinces are and aren't part of the empire aside from clicking on each province.

Yes, above the minimap are several buttons with options of what you can see on the map. There should be one dedicated to the hre, which shows all provinces that are part of the hre.

But I'm the emeror, so it shows all my provinces as the emeror's provinces without distunguishing which are officially part of the empire.

Yeah, happens because you are the emperor and every province of the emperor is seen as being in the empire, even if not. What you seek doesnt exist in the game and doesnt need to.

I would disagree that it doesn't need since I would like to see which ones need adding but that's what I was looking for. Thanks for your answer.

Well, you can do it manually, you have to manually add them anyway.
AboveAverageDuck Nov 17, 2018 @ 10:29pm
But I can't look at my nation and see immediatly which ones need added.
Medicles Nov 17, 2018 @ 10:34pm
True, but shouldnt you know that anyway? I mean, you annexed newly provinces.

Not when I've been ignoring the HRE for centuries and am emperor primarily because most everyone else who might be is dead. Also, since the HRE is so small now, it means I'm running a IA deficit, so I don't want to add them until I'll have enough to immediatly pass a reform.

If he has been playing for 100 years since the last time he checked, he might not remember which ones are problematic. It is a legitimate problem, although sadly one without a non-tedious solution.

Returning land to countries is a surefire easy way to make new princes within the first 100 years while the core claims are still fresh add Malta for example from southern italy.

This changed one or two patches ago (not sure if a bug or intended for whatever reasons):
Before the change the Imperial Mapmode coloured only provinces belonging to the HRE (and the capital of a non-member Emperor).
Now it colours all provinces of all members regardless of "HRE status".

I hope this is a bug and get fixed in the next patch.

As others said: You normally don't add provinces to the Empire directly when conquered/cored.
You keep them out of the Empire and then add 50 at once to pass a reform. With how the mapmode currently works it is a pain to check every province to check if it is already part of it or not. (Of course you can add provinces per region/area but even then you can always miss one or two).
