Do people ever actually struggle with rebels?
I mean, aside from being an annoyance every once in a while, especially early game, do you ever end up having your country break NOT on purpose? Does a rebellion ever actually feel like a war rather than a random stack to deal with? Idk, I never had problems much with rebels, but what do I know lol

God bless

I've just started playing and got Castilian Civil War. Was pleasantly surprised it wasn't so bad. But I guess it could hurt, if your economy has gone bad.

I've not got a massive amount of experience in the game but almost always I have like a 20K home army. I usually let my Colonies handle there own rebellions and if it gets really bad then I'll send an army. I've been playing a game of Portugal and I've taken over most of Morocco and usually I just have 1 20K stack in the mainland and another in Morocco and have no problems.
I can tell you, vanilla EU4, rebels spawn more. and are a royal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pain the ass.

DLC eu4. what are rebels?

Not really struggle to the point of them breaking my country (unless I want them to), but they do cause me difficulties at times. When you're in the middle of a big war and then rebels spawn on the other side of your country that's a real pain in the ass. Or after a big war while you're still low on manpower can be annoying.

overexpansion is the real rebelspawner. when you are at 200% or more its gets really annoying from time to time

Rebels are only a problem if you do something really wrong in the vast majority of cases. Having played EU and EU 2 primarily as Russia and dealt with the (not) fun of the Time of Troubles and other evil event chains it came with, complete with the "we have seen this before" tag line in the messages, I can safely say rebels in EU IV just don't compare...

Early game with small nations, yes.

If you just have a small army stack and esp keeping morale low to save money, you can get into some event trouble and get wiped out of nowhere. And If you just have one province, you're not making any new units. So your basically at their mercy, unless you got bordering allies that will help.

I see. I do wish rebels were more of a threat across all stages of the game rather than an annoyance or inconvenience. I don't really mean make them stronger but maybe harder to deal with? Like guerilla warfare rebels instead of conventional field army rebels but I guess that is outside of the game's scope.

Generally speaking, event effects don't happen until you click the event option or the event auto-fires after several months. This gives you time to respond before those rebels pop on your OPM...

Rebel factions aren't supposed to be strong threats on there own, but where they do pose a real problem is if your country is already engaged in a resource draining war in far away lands, or distant parts of your country. They can also be a good signal to your enemies that now is a good time to declare war.

Overseas rebels are really annoying to deal with imo, and i sometimes just accept demands on rebels in Africa just to get rid of them because its too annoying to ship armies down to kill them.

I had problems with rebels that weren`t event spawned only when i was really exhausted by a war or when conquered more then 100% overextension. I didn`t know at the time that it is really bad and in one game i got like 2million rebels after it.

Most annoying these days are other peoples rebels.
You know when u have a nation seiged down and then their rebels start spawning everywhere.
Keith Jan 10, 2021 @ 1:18pm
Eh not really - Their just more annoying and nonsensical than anything.
