Support independence when does it trigger.
Hey I'm kind of advanced. However something that I'm wondering about is when I can get a independence war to trigger. It is just me supporting independence of burgandy over austria that already absorbed bohemia and has pu over hungary. I'm the most powerful nation in the world right now with austria second.

I have noticed that burgandy was trying to get austria rivals of britain, ottomans, and commonwealth to join. It is boring waiting around for the war to start and I'm pretty sure I will trounce austria. I fought a quick war against mali and their troops just exploded. A 30k stack gone in a day or so.

I know the AI is stupid and will declare the independence when I declare war with a major power but I wonder if there is another way.

Well, if you are sure you can trounce Austria, trounce them and demand to release Burgundy at the end of the war...? If Burgundy is accepting your independence support, that means they're already disloyal, so they won't go out of their way to help Austria.

I guess that is what I need to do rather than wait. No cb I guess because I have nothing better to do. It is just 1600 I think.

From what I understand the AI bases their decision to declare independence based on the strength of the respective alliances. So while you could most likely trounce Austria, Burgundy may just be looking at numbers and thinking they're not so sure. You could try finding an excuse to fight some Austrian allies that would be called in an independence war, and either beating them up badly enough that they won't answer a call to arms or outright making them break alliance with Austria.

I tried to attack them. The desire for independence dropped and now I have to fight burgundy. So if other people read this you can't do this.

NM all is well that ends well. I won despite being outnumbered 3 or 4 to 1. Troop quality for the win.
