Steal maps or explore?

I've been pretty much stealing everything I know about the new world from my useful Iberian friends, but I recently learned there are various and potentially powerful, if rare, bonuses that can be gained from manual exploring.

Are lands others have alreadly explored exempt from these bonuses? If not, should I do it? Good relations and 2 more diplomats, not to mention bonuses, will come in handy.

if you know about them, yes, otherwise it's just random events while the conquisador party is exploring through TI.

So even if the lands are explored alreadly, I can still find great treasures and whatnot the spanish have missed? As long as I didn't steal maps for the region that is.

Is it worth it to explore manually?

If you have 2-3k troops to spare , recruit a conquistador and send them to hunt for the seven cities in the new world..They will explore terra incognita randomly , and if you manage to find any of them you get some bonuses depending on the outcome ( There are 3 if I remember correctly ).Much better than stealing maps

Stealing maps takes a lot of time for the diplomats, so, if I have the Exploration idea group, I always use Exploreres and Conquistadores
