Game not opening due to missing dowser.exe

If you have this issue;

1. Just go to your game file manually. ~\Steam\steamapps\common\Europa Universalis IV
(Or right click game properties>Local Files>Browse local files)

2. Open eu4.exe

3. Profit!

The game will then launch as normal, until they fix this.

WARNING: There is a claim this disables achievements for ironman if run this way, in another thread. Be cautious if loading an ironman save during this time!

This is really annoying, just PU'd Austria in my Ideas Guy run. Now I have to wait for this to get fixed.

I managed to fix the problem with 1.29 update under Win 10 by going into folder
Steam\SteamApps\common\Europa Universalis IV

and right clicking dowser.exe there >> compatibility >> run this program for compatibility mode for Windows 8 >> Disable fullscreen optimizations >> Run this program as an administrator >> Apply

I think there are more problems if you have MacOS or Linux.

And if I don't have any EUIV folder in the Common folder...?

The tech support in Paradox own forum has replied that problem with Mac is widespread and they are working on the fix.

You need to find where you have installed the game.

Found it. For some reason it's a hidden folder on the E: drive...
